Brown Cotton Top
Brown Cotton Top
This lightweight, medium-coarse textile is crafted from skin-friendly cotton spun on ambara charaka (spinning wheel) and hand-woven. Designed to provide warmth in winter and coolness in summer, it pairs beautifully with deep blue bottoms and layers well with a cardigan for cooler temperatures. Your purchase supports efforts to revive indigenous cotton production.
Details: Made from 100% rain-fed, pest-resistant, naturally colored cotton, this fabric is dyed with indigo yarn. The natural color of the cotton develops from water-soluble tannins found on and inside the fibers. Washing the fabric releases these tannins and enhances the brown hue over the first 10 washes, stabilizing thereafter. The shade of brown varies seasonally based on local environmental conditions.
Environmental Impact: Conventionally grown white cotton consumes approximately 20,000 liters of water per kilogram, with additional water usage during bleaching, sizing, mercerizing, and dyeing processes. In contrast, rain-fed brown cotton requires minimal groundwater, making it highly sustainable and biodegradable.
Care Instructions: Handle with care as you would any handmade product. We recommend gentle hand washing in cold water with mild or eco-friendly detergents. Dry the fabric in shade to maintain its quality and natural color.
Delivery: Please allow 30 business days for delivery
